Darthwing Shadowmare's
Guide to
Leveling from
49th to 50th ASAP FAQ!
Version 1.1
Foreword: This guide is used to level from level 49th to 50th in the fastest way you possibly can. So enjoy this guide and use it well on any and/or all your toons.
1) What quests and level type should I start in Midgard?
Simple start your quests except your level 43-50 Epic at 49th. There's only a
few non SI quests that gives out great xp and yes even loot rewards. While there
are crappy to great loot reward BUT great xp rewards in SI. So you need both
non-SI and SI clients in order to totally benefit from this.
2) Why can't I just do my epic like I normally should
do?
If you do your epic at level 43 instead 49.8 than you will not benefit and may
even have to find places to level after you done all the quest so the list. So
it's a good idea to do your epic at 49.8 so you can ding on the level 48th epic
and shoot straight to the level 50 Epic.
3) Why do my epic at 49.8?
This way you can ding on your epic and not waste any playing time leveling and waste it on ganking some ugly Firbolg or Scruffy Highlander.
4) What if I don't got SI?
There are a few quests on the list you should do. The best on is the Dark Places
of the Soul quest for non-SI client users.
5) Why most SI loot rewards SUCKS?
Well I can say that Mythic kinda Ignored Midgard on the loot rewards. The Glacier gem, The Ancestral Secrets resistance items and Catla's two bracers are the only ones I can think it's very good in resistance, stats and even skills. Other than that the loot reward sucks.
6) Why is The Dark Places of the Soul quest so long?
It involves alot of traveling, alot of killing, alot of traveling, alot of
talking, alot of traveling, a trip into emain, and alot of traveling. That's why
it's so long.
7) Why find out about the status of Emain For the Dark
Places of the Soul subquest Strange Brew?
Besides the NPC your hunting being dangerous, the Hibernians defending their
home and wanting to kill any Midgardians so do the Albions wanting to kill any
Midgardians in their way of conquesting Hiberinia in the name of Albion. So it's
a very wise idea to find out what's going on and when to move in.
8) What level is the xp value set at for these quests to be finished?
Level 49th!
9) Will you do a Hibernia and/or Albion version of this
guide?
Give me some Hibernia and Albion quests above 40, your epic quests from 43 to 50
and anything else quest related and MAYBE I'll do it. Otherwise it's Midgard
since I play on MLF-Mid.
10) Can I spam you in tells?
I hate to be spammed. Unless it's quest information, or anything else I see
accepting no you may not spam me.
11) Why you haven't done The Legend of Fenrir's Foley and Stoneheart in this FAQ?
I am currently working on The Legend of Fenrir's Foley and I have done Stoneheart. The Legend of Fenrir's Foley quest involves some traveling to the RvR lands and a tough ending. I am on the RvR lands step so it's not going up until it's done and to my approval. As for Stoneheart it's a level 50 SI quest. So level 49ths won't benefit from it so it's not going up.
Version 0.1a: I've added non-SI quests inside this FAQ. All of em except the Legend of Fenrir's Foley and Stoneheart is finished.
Version 0.5a: The SI quests except Stoneheart are in.
Version 0.5b: The bounty quests, epics, and non-SI zones are done.
Version 1.0: Everything else is inside including some SI zones are completed.
Version 1.1: This FAQ is polished and ready to go.
WereWolf Bane
Level requirement: level 43
Payload total: About .5 bubbles into 49th (1/2 a bubble!)
Loot drop: Good for a level 44-45 player. Otherwise give to your alt around that level that uses it.
Quest Information:
Gothi of the Juton says, "You are quite the
adventurer Coldas. I have heard tales of your deeds and followed your travel
with great interest. The path you have chosen can lead only to [greater riches].
This I have foreseen."
Gothi of the Juton says, "The wealth that comes from ones dreams can be
legendary, though deadly as well. With great wealth comes great power. Powers
that if used by the weak, will [ultimately crush] all those whom seek to make
use of it."
Gothi of the Juton says, "There are many who have gone before you
Runemaster. Many who have sought to obtain their dreams. Most have not returned,
yet I see a [light within] you that may allow your strength to hold onto this
dream."
Gothi of the Juton says, "If it is your [wish to kindle this light] within
your soul, then it must be done quickly. For once this light is extinguished
little will be left to keep you from joining those who have gone before."
You have been given the Werewolf Bane quest.
Gothi of the Juton says, "Then I shall not keep you! Your path has brought
you to me, yet I am not the bearer of your wealth. Nor am I the deliverer of
your dream! The one you seek is called Averrius. This man can be found at Gna
Faste within the darkened forest of Myrkwood. Seek him out and let your dream be
fulfilled!"
Travel to Gna. Averrius can be found in the small house.
Averrius says, "Ah! You're a fine one! I think you will do nicely
indeed! Have you [time to listen] to my tale?"
Averrius says, "Good! The mind is little used these days and it is pleasing
to see you are one who values knowledge. I am unsure if you have seen the beasts
that appear as wolves, yet walk about as if man? If not then you soon shall!
Werewolves they are; disfigured men cursed by an insidious disease! They seek
nothing more than to deliver pain upon those who travel about their lands. I
have been witness to the terror. The werewolves surprised us on a moonless night
within Skona. I was lucky enough to have evaded their initial attack and fled as
my comrades were slaughtered. What could I have done? They were much [too
powerful] for our steel and resisted all our spells!"
Averrius says, "Ever since that day I have scoured the realm for some
object or magic that could assist us in ridding the land of these beasts. Then
one year to the day of the slaughter, when I had all but given up hope, I was
given the insight needed. That night a shaman by the name Derila visited my
home. She brought with her a substance she claimed would make any weapon or
spell immediately powerful enough to inflict massive damage upon a werewolf.
This [silvery liquid] could easily coat a weapon or be mixed into a spell
component. Unfortunately the amount she possessed was not enough to work
with."
Averrius says, "Aye! The liquid is a mix of three specific werewolf
essences and enough belladonna to make a troll willing to hug an elf. Quite a
nasty concoction I must say, yet I am willing to craft enough of this substance
to imbue a weapon or spell with its power forever. All that will be required is
to find the [required essences]."
Averrius says, "Ah! Well if you are serious in assisting me then we should
start. These essences will not be easy to locate. They can only be obtained from
the blood of three werewolf high lords within in the cave of wolves. The essence
of lighting must come from High Lord Tarnkappe, the essence of fire from High
Lord Athulf, and the essence of ice from High Lord Modolfr. As one draws the
essence from them, that individual must quickly navigate to the [Altar of
Lyceaon]. Then in tribute to the birth of the werewolves one must offer up the
essences, which will then be converted into a crystal. Only in this crystalline
form can the essences be removed from the cave."
Averrius says, "Yes, Derila informed me to the place. It also exists within
the [cave of wolves]. If I understand correctly, Lyceaon was the father of all
werewolves. This is perhaps the best reason for the altar's existence. The altar
was described as nothing more than a simple well where the werewolves would
bring their victims, performing many sacrifices over it."
Averrius says, "This is the unfortunate part of my tale. Derila and I have
no clue where this cave might be. We do however know of a device that may be
used to discover its location. I am unsure if you are familiar with the wolfaur?
They are werewolves as well, yet they do not appear to have the same aggressive
manner as the typical werewolves. I have heard tales of adventurers who have
found peace with the wolfaur and those who have even spoken to them. While I do
not fully believe this, you may wish to consider the value of the wolfaur. I say
value, as it would benefit us to have them assist in [locating this cave]."
Averrius says, "Each wolfaur headsman carries with him a special charm. If
this charm is used within a werewolf camp, it will direct the holder to the wolf
cave. We must obtain this charm regardless of the cost. Do what you must, but do
it quickly. I fear that the werewolves may discover what we are attempting and
increase their guard. If that were to happen we would have no chance at
defeating them. When you have obtained this charm, seek me out once more. Good
travels Runemaster!"
Travel to Skona and find a Wolfaur Headsman. They stand together with the Skona
Werewolfs in the middle canyon in Skona. just speak to one of them.
You examine the wolfaur headsman. It is neutral towards you.
The wolfaur headsman says, "My time is short Dwarf! We are aware of your
needs. Our society has followed you for quite some time and we understand what
it is you seek. So long as you do not attack the wolfaur and continue your goal
to destroy the werewolves we will [assist] you. Our werewolf kin are not to be
trusted. They seek to spread their taint across the realm for power and control.
This is not the wealth of our society. They bring evil against us and cause all
who follow the wolf to become hunted."
The wolfaur headsman says, "My time is short Dwarf! We are aware of your
needs. Our society has followed you for quite some time and we understand what
it is you seek. So long as you do not attack the wolfaur and continue your goal

This is not the wealth of our society. They bring evil against us and cause all
who follow the wolf to become hunted."
The wolfaur headsman says, "Here, take this charm. It will assist you in
your goal. I have a word of warning before you depart. Do not attack the King of
Varulvhamn until your entire party has gathered within his chambers. Doing so
will prove your undoing. Now go Dwarf! The werewolves among us must not know we
speak in soft tones. We will follow your progress and assist when we can. "
You receive a wolfaur direction sense charm from the wolfaur headsman!
Return to Averrius in Gna Faste.
Averrius says, "Ah! You have returned! Were you able to retrieve a charm
from the wolfaur?"
Give Averrius the charm.
Averrius says, "This is marvelous Runemaster! Let us take a look!"
Averrius says, "Yes! You see here. First you must be within Skona in order
to activate the charm. Then if the charm is used anywhere within a werewolf camp
it will point you to the direction of the wolf cave. When you have located the
cave, descend into it and locate the Altar of Lyceaon. While standing within the
room, use the charm one last time. This will give you the power needed to
[extract the needed essences] from the werewolf high lords."
Averrius says, "As I mentioned earlier, they can only be obtained from the
blood of three werewolf high lords within in the cave of wolves. The essence of
lighting must come from High Lord Tarnkappe, the essence of fire from High Lord
Athulf, and the essence of ice from High Lord Modolfr. As one draws the essence
from them, that individual must quickly navigate to the Altar of Lyceaon. Then
in tribute to the birth of the werewolves one must use the essences, which will
then be converted into a crystal. Only in this crystalline form can the essences
be [removed from the cave]."
Averrius says, "Return to me when you have done as I have instructed and
only when you have all three crystals in hand. I will then take the essences and
craft the weapon of your choice. Should you ever have questions about what must
be done, do not hesitate to return to me. Safe travels Coldas!"
You receive a wolfaur direction sense charm from Averrius!
Questlog tells you to find the Werewolf Lair with the help of the charm. The
cave you have to find is Varulvhamn.
Travel to the WW camp in the middle canyon in skona. u will receive this message
if the location is correct.
The werewolf charm pulses slightly. You sense it might be possible to the
charm at this location.
then use the charm.
You attempt to use the wolfaur direction sense charm.
You sense the werewolf lair to the southwest!
Travel to Varulvhamn. You have located the werewolf lair and are rewarded
experience for it.
You are awarded 109,540,611 experience
Now you have to kill the three Werewolf High Lords and take their blood to the
Altar of Lyceaon.
The High Lords are kinda hard to find if you don’t know the dungeon. I
cartographed the dungeon but only with pen&paper. I will update this
walkthrough with the link when I have the map in digital form.
The Altar of Lyceaon is near the room of High Lord Tarnkappe and is not
defended.
You have entered the Altar of Lyceaon.
You attempt to use Tarnkappe's blood essence.
The blood essence crystallizes within Coldas's hands!
You receive a Essence of Lighting from Tarnkappe's blood essence!
You attempt to use Athulf's blood essence.
The blood essence crystallizes within Coldas's hands!
You receive a Essence of Fire from Athulf's blood essence!
You attempt to use Modolfr's blood essence.
The blood essence crystallizes within Coldas's hands!
You receive a Essence of Ice from Modolfr's blood essence!
return to Averrius in Gna Faste.
Averrius says, "Coldas! I had almost given up all hope. It is good you have
returned. Were you successful in obtaining all three essences? If so hand to me
the Essence of Lighting crystal."
Give Averrius the Lighting crystal.
Averrius says, "Excellent! Now hand me the Essence of Fire crystal."
Give Averrius the Fire crystal.
To is too good to be true! Do you have the final crystal, the Essence of Ice
crystal?"
Give Averrius the Ice crystal.
Good! Very good! I will begin at once to fashion the needed substance. I do
however require one other ingredient. Ingrid, the arrow merchant outside keeps a
barrel filled with belladonna. If you could purchase the barrel for me I would
appreciate it."
Ingrid can be found in Gna Faste. She is the Arrow merchant near the Stable
Master.
Ingrid says, "Hello Coldas! I wondered how long it would take for Averrius
to send you my way. Oh I know he is making something that requires my
belladonna. With the amount he requested one could kill a dragon! Unfortunately
Runemaster, I have not enough to fill his order. The one who usually retrieves
my belladonna has grown ill. I am afraid you will have to deliver this bad news
to Averrius. He will be most displeased. Wait! I have an idea! I could just tell
you the [location] of my source. Then you could gather as much as was needed. I
would just charge Averrius for the information. This works out splendidly!"
Ingrid says, "My source of belladonna comes not from the ground, but from a
multitude of creatures called mud crabs. They are quite addicted to the
substance. The warriors in Vanern Swamp, largest among the crabs, eat an obscene
amount during the night. From its stomach one can obtain a barrel full of
belladonna. If you recover this for me, I will be able to extract the amount
Averrius requires."
Go to Vanern Swamp and kill a Mudcrab Warrior. They spawn between the normal
mudcrabs in the entrance area of Vanern Swamp. around loc 55k/55k.
Return to Ingrid ...
Ingrid says, "Ah Coldas! I assume you were successful in obtaining the
stomach?"
... give her the stomach.
Ingrid says, "Here! This should be sufficient enough for whatever
Averrius is planning. Safe travels Runemaster!"
You receive a barrel of belladonna from Ingrid!
go to Averrius ...
Averrius says, "I have all but finished the substance Coldas. Do you have
the belladonna I requested?"
... and give him the belladonna.
Averrius says, "Good! Very good! Give me a moment to complete this."
Averrius says, "There! What type of weapon would you prefer crafted from
this? [Sword], [Axe], [Hammer], [Two-handed sword], [Two-handed axe],
[Two-handed hammer], [Staff], [Bow], or [Spear]"
choose your reward. I chose a 2H sword.
Averrius says, "Here, do what you must with it. I know it will serve you
well. You may also keep the werewolf charm. I am sure you can find some use for
it. One final note before you leave. You now possess one of the most powerful
weapons that could be used against a werewolf. This werewolf bane can inflict
massive damage upon any who suffer the curse. As there are few of these weapons
in the realm, we implore you to seek out the [king] of these werewolves and put
and end to his blood forever!"
You receive a Varulbane Two-handed Sword from Averrius! The weapon you
receive is nice and has Generic Damage as dmg type. I’m not sure but it seems
to be a anti werewolf weapon.
Averrius says, "King Hresvelgr can be found within Varulvhamn, the wolf
cave you located. You must take your weapon and slay the beast immediately.
Perhaps with his death, the spread of this curse will be stopped forever. A word
of warning Coldas. King Hresvelgr's resting form is that of a troll. Do not be
fooled by this! You must gather a group of adventurers with equal skill to your
own. It will take this many to slay the king when he reveals his true form. You
need not return to me when you have complete this as his death will be signaled
by the howl of his kind. I cannot help you further Runemaster. Good luck in your
attempt and may the gods find mercy should you fall!"
to complete the quest you have to kill the Werewolf King inside Varulvhamn.
That part I didn’t solo with my lv49 Runemaster. we did it with a group of 4.
2 RM, 1 Shammy, 1 Thane. all 45+.
with that group he was easy to kill.
You are awarded 1,131,919,647 experience.
You have finished the Werewolf Bane quest.
King Hresvelgr dies!
Dark Places of the Soul Quest (Sub quests included!)
Level requirement: level 49th
Payload total: About 3.55 billion XP points (That's a good bubble or two to fill)
Loot drop: Very good. A good resistance cape and ring, plus a nice bp halfway and a cool no graphics circlet at the end!
Quest Information:
To get it started talk to Idona in Ft. Veldon.
1) Head to Gna Faste and speak w/Jytal inside the hut. To get him talking, do /s
idona.
2) Hop on a horse to W. Skona and head E to the werewolf rope bridge. There's a
group of about 6-7 arachites (all gray @ 50) that will spawn N of the bridge (up
the hill over the ridge a bit). It only took a couple of mins to spawn and was a
little after 1am game time. They'll eventually head S into the building to fight
some ww's then go to the bridge and fight some more. After you witness it, step
3 SHOULD pop up. However, it may take more than one cycle to get step 3. I had
to wait for them to go back up the hill, then come back down, go into the
building, then back out to the bridge again before I got step 3.
3) Head back to Gna and talk w/Jytal again and click on the result of the
battle. In my case, the ww's were defeated, however I clicked on victorious just
for the helluva it. Either way, step 4 pops up which is the same as what Byte
posted. However, when you get to step 12, the quest takes you another direction.
Here is the link for the steps if you click defeated: http://vnboards.ign.com/message.asp?topic=44803224&page=2
4) Head E by NE from Gna to that little island with the broken-down house on it
and kill Gunflor. He was blue to me @ 50 and BAF's 2 casters, one was blue the
other green.
5) Head back to Gna and give the head to Jytal. Continue to talk to him and
you'll get the Ring of Spun Silk, Gunflor's Head back, and 415 million xp @ 50.
Make sure and keep the head in your inventory!

6) Head back up to Ft. Veldon and speak w/Idona again. Somewhere b'n step 6 and
7 a new quest will pop up called Strange Powers.
7) Head to Haggerfell and speak with Yver. He won't give you any keywords to go
off of, so here is where you'll start the Strange Powers subquest. The steps are
below:
SP 1) Say Idona to Yver. He'll go into a loooooong dialog and give you a hide
sack.
SP 2) Head to Mularn and give the sack to Goi Halfdan (she's upstairs in the 3rd
building on the left). She'll cast some spells and then speak to you. You'll get
a ticket to Audliten and the hide sack back.
SP 3) Go to Audliten and speak to Garon (first building on the left). Give him
the hide sack. He'll talk to you and send you out to Emain Macha to kill a
spider named Eresidae.
SP 4) Head to Svasud Faste (Uppland gate) and grab a necklace to Emain Macha (Hib
necklace). Once you get there, go thru the MMG then head W to the lake. Follow
the lake around to the right (be careful of agro in the lake if you're soloing
this) and head N up the hill when you get toward the back corner. Eresidae was
at the top of the hill at loc 8211, 3922. Kill her, she's yellow @ 50.
SP 5) Head back to Audliten and give the carcass to Garon. He'll give you Yver's
Unenchanted Antidote and you'll get another 415 million xp @ 50.
SP 6) Give the antidote to Goi in Mularn for enchanting. She'll cast a spell and
send you on your way.
SP 7) Head back up to Haggerfell and give the enchanted antidote to Yver. Click
on the "cursed" keyword or /s cursed and he'll drink it. It'll go thru
some spells and then Yver will continue talking to you. He'll eventually give
you a Scaffold Web Cloak and you'll receive 785 million xp @ 50. This is the end
of the SP quest, and you can now continue with step 8 of the Dark Places of the
Soul quest.

8) Return to Idona in Ft. Veldon and /s Yver is cured.
9) Head to Jordheim and seek out Blackpaw (he's to the left of the N gate,
upstairs in the building that Aaric is standing outside of). Give him Gunflor's
head. He'll turn into a white ww, cast a spell and disappear - it's pretty cool
actually.
10) Head back to Ft. Veldon and speak w/Idona. Do /s the werewolves have allied
with us.
11) Go back down to Mularn and speak with Goi again.
Okay depending on whether you clicked victorious or defeated, the steps from

otherwise continue w/the steps below.
12-15) Head to Muspelheim to kill a fire giant named Morgi Surtsson and his
defenders. When you get into Musp, keep right and head towards the fire giant
camp in the far SE corner of the map. You'll eventually get to a point in the
valley E of the Dverge town where a broadcast message will appear. As soon as
you see that head back W and you'll fight your first Defender. He was green to
me @ 50. When you kill him, head E again until you see another broadcast and
then immediately turn W to fight another Defender. The 2nd one was blue. Do this
another time to fight the third defender, also blue. Do it once more and Morgi
Surtsson will pop up, he conned yellow. Kill him for the Fire Giant blood.
16) Return to Goi in Mularn in give her the Fire Giant blood.
17) Travel to Huginfell and talk to Besje (she's in the building NE of the
bindstone). Do /s stone bowl. You'll receive a Cold Stone Bowl, the Herbalist's
Vest of Health, and another 785 million xp.

18) Take the bowl back to Goi in Mularn.
19) Talk to Goi about the ritual to find Balle.
20) Search for Balle between Fensalir Faste and the Uppland gate. He's NW of
they wyverns on the N side of the road to Fens. Loc was 37921, 51180. Speak
w/him and this will begin the Balle's Potion subquest.
BP 1) Use Balle's list of ingredients to see what you need to collect. The first
ingredient was bile from the green orms in Skona Ravine, so you'll need to take
a horse down to Gna and then another horse to W. Skona. Head NW from the stable
master and go the N side of the lake. You should find a green orm in the lake
around there. They conned blue and green. Kill one and get the Green Orm Bile.
BP 2) Get the next ingredient on the list. It's Snake Venom from a forest viper.
Head W from the lake w/the orms until you get to the next lake. Head S to
approximately 52k, 50k in Vanern Swamp by the mud frogs. Find one and kill it,
they conned blue and green.
BP 3) Get the 3rd and final ingredient on the list - Enslaved Orm's Tears from a
large enslaved orm (note - killing a runner will not give you what you need).
Head N along the lake keeping the shore on your right. After you pass the island
w/the playground on it (you zerks that have done your epic are familiar w/this
hehe), head NE across the lake. The loc is about 50k, 14k in Vanern. They conned
yellow, however there are jotun's around the area that con orange so be careful.
BP 4) Head back to Balle in Uppland and give him the list of ingredients and
then one ingredient at a time.
BP 5) Do /s certain. You will receive a Poisonous Brew and about 42 million xp.
This will end the quest and you can continue with step 21 of Dark Places of the
Soul.
21-22) Take the Poisonous Brew to the fragments of Kullervo located across the
shore from Gna. Basically head NW from Galplen along the shore until you see a
big bear named Grumblebelly. There will be a lot of Kullervo's Guardians flying
around him. Give the Brew to one of them. It'll cast a spell and turn into a
human form named Kullervo. He conned blue to one person and yellow to me - both
of us are 50. Kill him and Errick the Protector will spawn. NOTE: If you give
the Brew to one of the Guardians while someone else is doing this part of the
quest, just wait for it to reset and it'll go thru the transformation again.
23) Talk to Errick and /s dark magic.
24) Return to Idona in Ft. Veldon and /s errick lives. She'll tell you that Yver
has been captured and you need to rescue him.
25) Head back down to Gna, then to W. Skona to find & rescue Yver in Skona.
Head N from the stable master down into the valley and talk to Yver.
26) Kill the evil Yver that spawns about 20 feet to the S of Yver. He was
orange. You'll receive a Yver's Soul Shard.
---been reported that he can spawn as from yellow to red
27) Return the Soul Shard to Yver. He'll go thru a casting process and then you
can talk to him again.
28) Return to Idona in Ft. Veldon and speak with her. You'll receive the Wispy
Silkstrand Headcover and about 1.15 billion xp. This is the end of the quest,
congratulations!

line next to a tiny circle. On the far side of the outer circle is a crude
drawing of a dwarf next to a hut."
I actually found the chest when I hopped into one of the crevices near the
eastern steam vents (21,233, 46,530). You can not find the chest if you are in
stealth mode. The chest added around 500 encumbrance when dropped into my
inventory. I used the golem keys (Shift-E and hotbar) and got the gem.
7) Put on Longbeard's necklace and you will be instantly ported back to Hagell.
8) Return to Abjorn Onefoot and finish the quest
Level requirement: level 45
Payload total: About 1.6 billion XP
Loot drop: Great reward. You'll get at least 2 resistance increases out of 3. Some will get the hits while others the 3rd Resistance.
Quest Information:
Start in the town Bjarken located in SI.
Talk to Sisko (Hot sexy female Troll located to the left when you walk into
town.
Sisko will ask you to bring back 5 pieces to a map found on the Hrimthusa
Warriors
The Hrimthusa Warriors were very easy to find in Delling Crater. They are in
front of the Tuscaran Glacier. Approx Location where I saw the first one was
42k, 12k, Delling Crater
They conned blue to a level 50 and yellow to a level 45.
After you kill 5 Warriors, return to Sisko in Bjarken
Talk to Sisko then give her each of the 5 pieces. Reward is about 4g for each of
pieces of maps, which is nice.
Then Sisko will ask you to get an Eye of a Griffen Frostwing. Located NE of
Dellingstad.
The Griffen Frostwings are all around the stone tree's in Delling Crater. Approx
loc, 23k, 25k. Conned yellow and OJ to a level 50.
Return to Sisko and give her the Griffen Frostwing eye.
Reward is the Glacier Jewel. Stats on it are random. This is what I received and
what others have received.
Cold 12
Thrust 12
Hits 21
Spirit 12
thrust 12
hits 21
12 cold
12 body
14 slash
12 cold

21 hits
Level requirement: level 45
Payload total: About 2.5 billion xp
Loot drop: A random choice of 3 crappy and 1 decent reward. So you'll either get crap most of the time or 1 good ring.
Quest Information:
1: talk to Bothrar in bjarken
2: kill 10 male/matriarch mammoths in mammoth valley (53K,9K) until you get 6
tusks and 4 skins (not the regularly dropped ones, check your journal until you
have the next step and be sure you have enough room in your inventory)
3: bothrar will buy you back 5 tusks and 3 skins for 4 & 6 gold
4: increase your faction with dellingstad up to neutral, killing mobs around
crater
5: talk to Vorkald in dellingstad, who will buy you the last tusk & skin
6: go clean the mammoth valley morvalt camp. Don't go there alone, because if
only one morvalt is up, the quest won't advance to next step (yellow to 50 and a
lot of them).
7: kill a male/matriarch mammoth to get the mammoth eye
8: give the eye to vorkald who will give you a reward
Level requirement: level 48
Payload total: About 2.7 billion xp
Loot drop: Good for some melee specs while disappointing for others. Any other class depends.
Quest Information:
The quest requires killing a level 60 mob, so bring
friends! Also, I'm writing this from memory after-the-fact, so not sure if I
have everything right. Be sure to follow your journal! :)
Get the quest from Ota, then ride to Bjarken and talk to Jaklyr, a big troll in
on the houses there. He'll send you to Delling Crater's caldera, which is in the
SW corner of the zone (Delling Crater being east of Gripklosa Mtns). Down in the
caldera, there are several stacks of large crystals coming out of the ground. As
you approach one such stack-- Loc is 18843,48971--(not any of the ones with
caldera lords in front of em, don't worry), you'll get a message and the
Ancestral Keeper will pop. If you entered the caldera from the north, the
correct crystals will be on your left as you head towards the southern exit
stairs. Anyway, kill the Keeper, and then return the necklace to Jaklyr in
Bjarken.
Jaklyr will teleport you to another city. I think the city varies. You will find
yourself in front of an NPC. For me, this was Jago in Dyrfjell. I talked to him
and got a very nice Beaded Resisting Stones necklace.
Now, horse it to Aegirheim, and give the notes to Longbeard, Ota, and Gaszi.
Gaszi will give you another prize for your efforts.
(DW's Notes: THIS is repeatable. The reward second time and beyond is just gold. For 25 gold total and some nice xp you can make money with your buddies and guildmates just killing this mob again.)
Level requirement: level 49
Payload total: About 3.3 billion xp
Loot drop: A choice of 2 bracers from 11 bracers
Quest Information:
1. Start in Dyrfjell and talk with Medena. She will
give you a ticket to Aegir.
2. Travel to Aegir. Find Catla and speak with her. She will give you a task to
kill 3 creatures. She also gives you a ticket to Hagall and a list of
instructions. To view the instructions, click and drag the scroll to your hotbar
(like a potion). Press your ready item key (e by default) then the number for
the scroll in your hotbar.
3. Travel to Hagall. Leave Hagall on foot South and East along the roadway and
enter Iarnwood. The trees here make it very difficult to navigate and see
wandering monsters. If you're solo or in a small group, take your time and keep
your eyes open.
4. Make your way East to begin with about half way down the steep hill just
inside Iarnwood until you get to about 26000 or so (first number in the /loc).
5. Start winding your way South and you should come right to the entrance of
Iarnvidiur's Lair. The entrance is a giant hollow tree at about 28000 x 39000.
Take your time and you can make it without having to fight anything - you may
have to sprint into the dungeon.
6. Just inside the entrance is a cliff down to a pool. Jump or climb down the
root to the pool and cross to an area filled with Cadbys (Mushrooms). Cadbys con
blue to yellow mostly here but they have a nasty disease (black plague).
7. Kill a Cadby and get the Cadby spore as per the instructions (I had to kill a
yellow - blues did not drop spores).
8. Next take the right hand tunnel across the "Cadby Pad." The tunnel
has occasional Cadbys and "snakes" which con anywhere from blue to
orange. Take the first left tunnel along the way and you will soon find Kolvargs
(wolves) which con orange to red in this area. Kill a Kolvarg and get the
Kolvarg Saliva.
9. Head back to the main tunnel and continue down for quite a way. Stick to this
main tunnel (the left at intersections) and you will eventually come up to a
room of Redcaps - aka "lawn gnomes." Kill a Redcap Davin which con
yellow to red for the Davin's Beard Hair.
10. You can now either suicide out (the fast way), stay and farm experience and
loot, or head back to Hagall on foot. I got 2 nice item drops while I was there
in only 30 mins or so.
11. Make your way back to Dyrfjell. Seek out Juuso and speak with him. He is in
the large wooden building on the left as you enter Dyrfjell. He will ask for
each of the ingredients from the monsters and then hand you a potion.
12. Take the potion to Catla's Spirit which can be located just outside and
behind Dyrfjell (west side) on top of a boulder at 20458 x 11717. (When you try
to find the spirit on the boulder, you have to be unstealthed....if you are
stealthed she will not show her self). Speak to her and she will ask for the
potion. Give it to her and enjoy the spell effects. You receive Catla's spirit
stone.
13. Return to Dyrjell and speak to Medena. Hand her the spirit stone and you
will be rewarded with TWO bracers of your choice. Congratulations - that's it

Loot Drops: See Payload
Start lvl 43 or higher
See your trainer in jordheim, he will send you to Mularn to get the quest.
See Elizabeth in Mularn, she is the enchanter in the building closest to the
jordheim walls. She gives you a dagger.
Elizabeth sends you to see Lynnleigh. She is on the island near Vasudheim. (loc
39200, 21100 East Svealand) Elizabeth only spawns at night time by the standing
rock. Give the Red Dagger you got from Elizabeth to Lynnliegh
Lynnleigh sends you to Yggdra to find Geyra. Geyra is a Fenir WW located behind
(not inside) the Fenir camp. He spawns at 5600, 56700 in Yggdra. He has 2 guards
with him. They all con yellow to a level 49.
Go back to Lynnleigh.
Go to Raumark main gates where the wyverns spawn. In the buildings that cross
the entrance to Raumark you will find Red Hagen. He is in the 2nd building from
the right. He baffed 3 when we killed him. Red Hagen conned yellow and all bafs
were green to a lvl 49. He gives you a red dagger map.
Take the map back to Lynnleigh.
After taking the map back to Lynnleigh you will receive an item. You will need
Must be level 45 from this point on.
Seek out Audun in the bar in Jordheim. He is in the back of the bar BEHIND a
wall. You cannot see him by just entering the bar, you go to the back right
corner. The bar is near the mularn entrance.
Audun sends you to Vanern Swamp to find Arica and Mista. They are a couple of
Siethkona. They spawn in a pack of 4 at loc (63500, 60000) in the swamp. They
all con blue to a lvl 49. When you pull the named one, a red caster will appear
and proceed to throw fireballs at you. Solo is not advised on this step
Go back to Audun in the bar. (Hint: you should bind in jordheim BEFORE heading
to the swamp, then you can either suicide to get back to jord or use the port at
the bottom of the stair of crab room in Spindelhalla dungeon to get back to Jord.)
The port in Spindelhalla is an exploit, you jump through the back wall and it
ports you to you last known bind spot without killing you or causing exp loss.
You will receive another reward after seeing Audun in
the form of an item and xp.
(DW Note: this exploit might be fixed so take the normal way back)
Audun sends you to Raumark to find the Red Daggers.
There is mobs named Red Dagger at loc (36500, 45500 in Raumark). Audun mentioned
a camp there but I didn't see a physical camp with buildings, I only saw the
mobs at that loc. We just bumped into them by accident there. They con blue at
49 and I only saw one, but once we attacked it several more came from different
directions.
Go back to Audun in the Jordheim bar.
He sends you to find Albions in the Jamtland Mountains. You are looking for mobs
named "Albion" not actually vaders. They are at loc 7867, 12140
northwest of Nottmoor Faste.
Go back to Audun.
Go to Lynnleigh.
(From this point on if you haven't read this FAQ fully or ignored it except on the epics than you will need level 50 to get to the next step.)
Go to Vanern Swamp to find Ydenia of the Siethkona to
get the Tome of Enchantments. Go to loc 47840, 29900 in the swamp. You will be
on a small island. Face West by Northwest (dir = 300 in the /loc command) and
you see a separate island with a wooden tower with a ramp. On that island is
Ydenia. The aggro range is HUGE, it's far greater than executioners in malmohus
etc so be warned. They ALL baf and they are tough. Ydenia is very powerful, she
will pick up whoever is attacking her and sweep them away "with a large
wave of water", you get tossed out to the middle of a lake and are left
alone with her while your group mates try to save you. I would strongly suggest
binding in Galplen before trying to kill her. We tried with group of 4 level
50's single healer and that wave thing threw us off. We died and regrouped with
6 people then got the item.
Go back to Elizabeth to get your full suit of armor. Woot!
DW's Note: When you get your epic armor. Use it as your RvR suit and use your regular armor you had before epic as an PvE set.
Payload: Alot of XP, some decent jewelry and secondary items and a nice suit of Epic Armor to make ya ubah! This XP moves a level 49.8 to level 50.
Loot Drops: See Payload
To acquire this quest, speak to Masrim in Fort Atla.
She instructs you to speak to the Barkeep in Galpen for further information
regarding Hibernians in Midgard. Go seek the Barkeep out by Hord the Healer in
Galpen.
The Barkeep tells you of a man in Vanern Swamp named Cochonbhar (or some
derivative of the name) and speaks of scrolls that will tell more about the
invaders. Seek Cochonbhar out by the Forest Spiders in Vanern along the Zone
Wall (approx 57 k, 9k). He is aside a hut with a fire out front. He cons GREY!!!
but do not be fooled. Try and strike him and 3-5 Orange mobs spawn and begin
attacking. I advise you have a mezzer stay back a bit for this situation. When
you kill the "General" in the group you get the scrolls. Take them
back to the Barkeep.
Tell the barkeep [Cochonbhar is dead] and she gives you more scrolls to take to
Masrim in Atla. When you get to Atla you are awarded 238,401,600 experience and
Masrim reads the scrolls. She tells you of a man named Nicolas in Upplands and
gives you a somewhat clear description of where to find him. Ride to Upplands to
kill Nicolas. The best way to get to Nicolas is go to the Uppland Relic (Mjollner
Faste) and head west to the Uppland Lake. Once there go past Ebhilin (from the
40 Epic) and go around the mountain. If you have bad Bone Oracle faction, stay
low on the mountain but watch for Frost Spectres.
Around the location 5762,12394 you will see a small building surrounded by
Fallen Trolls and Undead. The best place to pull from is on the west side.
Nicolas is on the "porch" of the building. He cons red at level 43. I
whooped him with a level 50 Shaman and I (at level 43). Nicolas drops
"Nicolas' Amulet". Take that to Morlin Caan in Jordheim for your gold,
experience and belt.
Another account:
1: (Vanern Swamp) To go to speak with the elf you must follow the north zone
wall to the west all the way from myrkwood to vanern were the wall turns north,
continue following the wall, making sure o avoid spiders that roam there, if you
keep an eye to your left you will see a small village by the lake side. When you
go down you see the famed elf, just in time for him to be ruthlessly slaughtered
before your eyes, the mob is orange (to a 48) with 2 gray/green friends) kill
the named killer to get... whatever, then you return it to ... whoever, read
your journal!
2) (Uppland) after you got done with... whatever you are sent to Uppland to kill
Nicholas, a named Celt invader, he spawns on top of a tower at the undead camp
by the bone-eaters/frost spectres. To get there, head to uppland and make your
way to the lake were you killed the level 40 epic mob. Kill her again if the
taste of hib blood makes you happy. When you are done, from the north side of
the lake follow the ridge wall west, watching out for isralf (Green/blue but
long agro and solo baf) and frost spectre (big, nuking meanies don't mess with
them), continue west tell you get to the bone eater camp, go west around it and
down that hill you will see Nicholas! Yay! He is orange to a 48 and bafs most
all of that camp (3-5 yellows) get the drop and return it.
These steps may be out of order; I forget how they
go...
1) (yggdra) if your on the quest to talk to a hib informer, then this is your
step, this is probably the easiest, and only soloable, step on this quest,
simply go to the bone-eater camp (every hunter should know where this is, if you
don't its just a tad north of horn relic keep) go down the hill to the ghostly
invader camp (were the mora the quiet and ald the Bruce spawn) and you will see
our fellow at the end of the wall (loc 12.7K/8.8K) , you may think yourself very
clever to just stealth up to him so as not to agro local baddies, but the second
you talk to him you get uncovered, so time it so there are no agros within the
general area. I didn't even have to pull any, I just waited.
2) (Back to vanern, near skona but in vanern) This step you are to go back to
Vanern to get, whatever. Anyway, head out to skona to the varul v dungeon, from
there go west to the zone wall, follow the zone wall north, then west, then
south, then west again, just make sure you're on the zone wall and you'll be
fine. You will eventually come across the mob, orange to 48, when you pull her
she brings her army of blues to get ya, but she stops to cast, which makes this
quest duoable by 2 hunters if they just run off from the blue adds.
--If you head to the hill by spind and stick on the zonewall (heading from
Myrkwood into the swamps, you should run into the mob alot faster then running
from skona around.
--at lvl 45.5, the main mob was red con and the surrounding 5 zombies conned
yellow. My group consisted of myself (45.5 hunter) and a lvl 50 hunter. We both
were able to pull a zombie each with no aggro from the other mobs. After all the
zombies were dead we had only to kill the main mob which was quite easy for a
group of two. The level 50 hunter in my group said that you can only do this
once and then they will aggro when you pull. I don't know if that is true or not
but a 45 hunter should be able to do this quest with just about any healer or
nuker helping him
Return to masrim and you find out she is blind! Equip the note and check your
journal for the message you have to give her.
(more on this step:)
She's a bit hard to find - your journal will tell you to head southwest from
Skona into Vanern Swamp, but my group and I wandered around half of Vanern
before we found her. Best I can tell is to head southwest from the end of the
north wall in Skona to find her. Location is 45796,62828 near the wall. She was
orange to me at 45.5 and has 4 to 5 blue zombie friends, so take some backup!
Another error for now is that it says she is a night spawn - we found her at 6am
game time.
Once you kill her you have to take the scrolls to Masrim in Fort Atla. Masrim
will tell you she's been blinded and to read the scrolls to her. Unless you keep
checking back and forth in your journal you won't realize that first you have to
"equip" the scrolls in one of your one-handed spots, then what your
read to Masrim is not what the scrolls actually say.
RE: EQUIPING THE NOTE:
The 'read this note to Masrim' step has changed, I'm pretty sure!
For whatever reason (read, terrorizing noobs with the 'bag' beating)
they've made it so you can NO LONGER EQUIP THE NOTE IN YOUR
1H SLOT!! I had to submit appeals because there was no way for me to use the
note (me and 2 other SBs) so they gave us new notes that we could place on our
MENU BAR and 'use' with whatever key you have bound to 'use'. So they'll
probably be fixing the drop process to give you a
fixed note that works this way. Now, to use the note:
- drag the note from your inventory to the menu bar.
- hit the key that you have bound to 'use' (check keyboard config if necessary)
- hit the number key for the note's slot
- do not read what shows in your display, instead bring up your quest info, and
repeat what it tells you to Masrim.
Talk to Masrim to initiate this section of the quest.
1) (Raumarik): For this step go to the Raumarik entrance and head out into
Raumarik on the north side of wyverns. You will follow the valley between river
and hills and you'll see Riona, he will yell "Get em minions" or
something like that but not really do anything, he is red to a 48 and has not
people with him, but when you pull him 3 blue/yellows pop out of no where to get
ya. Get the stone off killing him and return to masrim so she can see again.
--Note-I believe the Raum mob is called Roibin, not Riona. He spawns at night at
58k, 22.3k - quite close to the entrance
2): (Odin’s gate) this is the hardest step so far, head to OG and go to the
fork that leads to the 2 mile gates, take the south road. As you follow it,
before you get to the MG you will see a little valley to the south with a wall
at the end of it, walk towards it and Oona (shard) will summon the general and 2
yellows to come get ya, so buff before hand. The general was purple to a 48
(some have said he was red but he was purple to me) and a tough kill. The best
part of this step is you get no reward whatsoever! not exp or item! If you are
level 50 you will get the next step, otherwise you just get a message to talk to
megrim again when you are more powerful.
-- The location of the general is reported as 47700, 56300.
(DW's Notes: From this point on if you didn't ding from level 48th step than you will need to go out and xp til your level 50).
Talk to Masrim again to initiate the final part of your
epic... you're almost there!
Final: (Raumarik) the quest instructions on how to get there are pretty good,
there isn't alot to it. When you get into Raumarik, go west to the river and
follow the river south. Keep following it a long ways, after the bend to the
west, after the bears (watch agro), and when you get to savage winter wolves
you're there, you'll see this is the spot were all rivers merge (like quest
says) to the North-west you will see a little peninsula of land that come to a
point at the intersection. That's were Oona is. Oona is purple to 50 and has 5-7
yellow to orange buddies that come with her. Stay on the opposite side of the
river, I found out if another member of your group go an pull the little oranges
an yellows you can get them 1 to 2 at a time and easy to kill. However if you
step into the river you will hear Oona yell something and her and all her
minions streamline right for you, and Oona stops to nuke you for about 300-400
damage so when you do pull her, keep the arrows flying.
When you finally kill her, you receive Oona's head, run it to Masrim (who gives
you exp "Yay exp at 50"), and gives you a note to give to Morlin Caan,
return to Morlin in jordheim for a reward of 6 pieces of 100AF 100 QUA 35% bonus
armor. It looks REALLY cool; the only bad thing is that the helm is bright neon
green and un-dyeable. But other then that it's awesome :)
(DW's Notes: After you finish your quest save this armor for RvR. Use your drop/Player made armor for PvE.)
Payload: Alot of XP, some decent jewelry and secondary items and a nice suit of Epic Armor to make ya ubah! This XP moves a level 49.8 to level 50.

Anrid says, "What? You haven't heard? There is
trouble in the Grenlock Clan. Shortly after you brought the sword back to me, a
dark cloud settled around both the crest and the sword. I thought it was part of
the protection spell but then Arnfinn started sending me messages that things
were happening to people of the Clan. Harmless creatures attacking people,
strange illnesses overtaking others. All signs point to [a problem] with the
crest and the sword, but alas, I do not know what it may be.
Anrid says, "I know you have helped before, %Name%, both with obtaining the
crest and the sword. Now the very people of the Grenlock Clan call upon you to
help solve the mystery of what is befalling them. Someone or something is trying
to remove them from this world, and I can only beg that you will help them in
these troubled times. Can I send word that you [are here for them]?"

what has befallen the crest and sword, but I know of one who might. She is

you that. When you have lived as long as I have, everyone is a child. Now
usually children don't come to me unless they were sent to me. Who sent you here
to me?"
Danica says, "So Anrid sent you? I am not surprised. She came to me
recently to tell her the legends of the Grenlock Clan. Now, I know many stories
and legends, and perhaps one day I will be able to share them with you and
others, but for now we must focus on the task that Anrid has sent you on. She
told me that trouble has befallen the Grenlock Clan, and she was going to send
one who would [solve the mystery].
Danica says, "Since Anrid came to me, I have been going through all the
stories I know related to the Clan but I've reference to visitors from a far off
land that resulted in the death of a girl of the clan named Freyana. Freyana was
the most beloved daughter of the clan at the time these visitors came to Midgard.
It was said she was so beautiful when she was born that she was named after the
goddess of beauty, Freya. But [something happened] to her while she was still
you."
Danica says, "unfortunately I do not know what caused it, but somehow
Freyana died saving her childhood friend; a troll named Ljagnid. Healers of the
Clan worked desperately to save Freyana's life, but their magic’s failed and
her spirit was held here instead of travelling on to Valhalla. Legends say that
Freyana's spirit grew bitter and ugly with her resentment towards the clan but
especially to Ljagnid. She haunted him, sending horrible things [to torment him]
day and night."
Danica says, "The torment became too much for him and he died from a
mixture of fear and grief. Freyana watched this with joy, for she felt she was
avenged. But her joy quickly turned to anger when she saw that Ljagnid was being
taken to Valhalla, a place she had long been denied. She shrieked a curse at
Ljagnid, and bound him to her, keeping him trapped here in the same tortured
existence she suffers. It is rumored that Freyana and [Ljagnid] now roam around
Vanern Swamp together, for that is where both their bodies where laid to rest,
with the great kings and queens of Midgard."
Danica says, "In the stories I have found, it was speculated that Ljagnid
wrote down his story and what brought about Freyana's death. If we only had that
book! Some say it was lost forever while others say Ljagnid took the book with
him when he died. Only you can [discover the truth] now, child."
Danica says, "You must travel to the sweltering depths of Vanern Swamp and
seek out Freyana and Ljagnid at night and see if Ljagnid has this book. Freyana
is evil, and cannot stand having Ljagnid around but she cannot let him go, they
say. So she forces him into hiding most of the time, but when something tries to
harm her, and try things do, for she is a most evil creature now, Ljagnid
springs from hiding to help her. I fear you will not be able to face Freyana and
Ljagnid alone, for they have both grown very strong. Gather your forces and take
them with you for protection. Remember, Freyana only roams at night. If you are
able to obtain the book, bring it back to me here."
- Go to the South West corner of the swamp. She spawns only at night, at 1h 0m
by a tree next to the lake.
31K 50K
- Return to Mularn and Give Danica the book
Danica Says, "Ah, this is wonderful! Ljagnid did writedown the story of
what happened to Freyana. Apparently he felt horrible about it, and thought that
writing it down would help ease his guilt. Here [listen to this story], for I
believe it will shed some light on the problems with the Grenlock Clan."
Danica says "Visitors have come to the encampment today. They are from
another land, I think, for they look different then the Grenlock Clan. Freyana
was all excited about the visitors coming, but then she dreams of going to far
off places. Me, I'm happier here with the Clan. Freyana was worried about me,
because she thinks the visitors have never seen a troll before and would be
scared of me. I went off into the woods for a while and talked with the other
trolls in the area. Freyana came to me after sunset and told me about the
visitors. They don't know our language, but drew pictures in the dirt to make
themselves understood. Freyana says they are nice, but she wants me to stay away
a while longer. He [continues] the story a week later."
Danica says, "The visitors have begun to learn the language of the clan,
and we theirs. Freyana continues to hide me and the other trolls from Kelic, the
leader of the magic users. She is too protective of me. I told her I wish to
learn their language too, and she promised me she would teach me. I think
tomorrow I will sneak close to their encampment and see them for myself. I am
curious to see if they look like the Clan or like me. Freyana has come back to
my hidings place to bring me food. I must go eat now and finish this later.
Ljagnid stops writing there and did not finish on that day. [His next entry] is
about freyana's death. Perhaps this will help us.
Danica says, "'Ingvarr and his friends have been searching for a week now,
but have not found the visitors. Everyone thought they had made it to their own
lands until Runil showed up. He said that the deserters of the Clan had taken in
the visitors and were making a deal with them. Runil feared the deal and left
them, returning to the Clan. He begged to be accepted back into the Clan, but no
one trusts him. The Alfevsons took him back in, but they secretly set someone to
watch him at all times. I think Runil is [up to no good].'"
Danica says, "A few days later Ljagnid writes, 'I was right. Runil left us
again today, but he said he wasn't returning to the deserters. He still feared
the visitors. He told us he was going north, because he thought the visitors
were going to do something bad to the Clan and to the deserters. Some people
went with him, but we never saw any of them again. When he left, I saw him
carrying a bunch of scrolls. I checked with everyone, but no one was missing
any, so they must have belonged to Runil after all. Something strange is
happening to me. I have started seeing strange creatures no one else sees. I am
scared.' That is where the book ends. [Interesting], is it not?"
Danica says, "Now, before you start wondering, I know of these renegades
Ljagnid wrote of in his journal. They were once Clansmen and women. When the
Clan moved into the area, they had two choices - live in peace with the trolls,
kobolds, and dwarves, or conquer them. The Alfvesons, chose to live in peace,
and this made some of the Clan members [angry]."
Danica says, "These members did not like the non-human races. They felt
that co-existing with them rather than ruling them showed weakness. Rather than
live in that situation, they packed up and left, following the loudest of them,
Jango. I guess you could say they are the forerunners to the Blodfelags that
roam the lands now. He led them out into the wilderness, where they roamed for a
short time until they mysteriously died out. They had no name for themselves,
but in the Clan they were referred to as the deserters. I also know of this man,
[Runil]."
Danica says, "I have a few notes about him in different books. He and his
followers moved around quite a bit, but finally settled in Raumarik. It is said
his spirit still haunts the land, although now he fears everyone, thinking they
have been sent by either the deserters or the visitors. I believe the scrolls he
took will contain the answer to what the visitors planned to do to the Clan. I
need you to travel now to Raumarik and find Runil. His followers are always with
him, hoping for his protection, so take many with you to defeat them. When you
reach Raumarik, head to the river. Cross the river and head north until you find
Runil. Return to me when you have the scrolls of Runil."
Go to Raumarik and find Runil
- Go straight into Raum, cross the river and head straight north. You will find
Runil slightly north in the first group of trees at 53K 20K
- Return to Mularn and Give Danica the scroll, you will get the necklace
Danica says, "So you have returned from Raumarik, child. What do you bring
me from the deserter, Runil?"
Danica says, "Ah, I am glad you were able to get these. They will [solve
the mystery] of the Clan's problems, I am sure."
Danica says, "I shall need a minute or two to scan over Runil's scrolls to
see if I can learn
anything [about the visitors]. While I do that, why don't you take a look at
what Anrid sent over for you. "
--Loc of First Spawn is 32k, 50k in Vanern Swamp.
--Loc of Second Spawn is 53k, 20k in Raumark
--The 2 in vanern con orange and yellow to lvl 50 so bring friends
--we have another report of them conning blue and yellow at level 50 (but the
yellow one resists about 20% of the spells so be careful)
[step #9] Talk with Danica about Runi's scrolls and the
story of the visitors.
Danica says, Well, child, I'm glad you have returned. I have finished comparing
the scrolls and the book, and now I know more [about the visitors] that came to
the Clan so long
ago.
Danica says "Runil finally puts an identity to those mysterious visitors!
They are none other than Albions! Can
you [believe that]?
Danica says, "Apparently they traveled the lands, seeking
new people. They were overjoyed to meet the Grenlock Clan
because they were almost out of food and water. Their
leader, Kelic was talented with magic, but did not know
what was edible here in our lands, and did not want to poison his groupmates.
Runil writes that the two groups got along until 'a troll sprang out of no
where, surprising the camp.'
My guess is that troll was none other than Ljagnid. Runil
writes that [the Albions] regretted Freyana's death."
(a portion of the story is missing here from my screenshot)
troll and he started listening'. He goes on to tell how Jango met with the
others in his camp to decide[what to do].
Danica says, "Jango and the others decided to help the Albions, but for a
price. Jango wanted control of the Grenlock Clan, and he knew that the Albions
had the power to help him. Jango told them of the Clan's crest and sword, and
how they are the symbols that rally the Clan members. He told how they were
broken into pieces but would one day be reunited. Kelic, desperate to leave
Midgard, put a curse upon the pieces. When the pieces were reunited, the curse
[would begin]. Ah, I must send word to Anrid that the cloud that surrounds the
crest and sword is the curse of the Kelic."
Danica says, "Runil goes on to describe the curse - friendly monsters being
sent against clan members, and if that didn't work, sending sickness to kill
most of them. The deserters thought the curse would work, and escorted most of
the Albions to the border, but he kept Kelic with him. He wanted a guarantee
that the curse would work. Kelic would have lived to see Albion again, but the
report came in of Gunnar's death and his piece of the crest being lost. Jango no
longer believed the curse would work and [killed Kelic]."
Danica says, "That is when Runil returned to the Clan, fearing something
bad would happen to the deserters, and he was correct. With his dying breath,
Kelics pronounced a death curse upon the deserters, killing off almost all of
them, and driving the rest into the wilds. It wasn't until recently that their
descendants have felt safe enough to come out of hiding. Runil goes on to
describe how Kelic cast the spell. I must study more if I am to help you break
the curse. Until then, you must [defend the clan] from the curse!"
Danica says, "There is a descendent of the Clan by the name of Cnute. This
curse has affected his family and he needs help. Go to him in Audliten. Tell him
you are there to help the Clan. I shall be here researching how to break this
curse, child."
[Step #10] Seek out Cnute of Audliten. Tell him you are there to [help the
Clan].
Cnute is on the East side of Audliten upstairs.
Select Cnute and /Say Help the Clan
Cnute says, "You are? That's wonderful. I bet Danica sent you. She and I
are very old friends, and I sent her word about [my son]."
Cnute says, "As you know, many bad things are happening to the clan.
Recently a sickness overtook some of my family. My son, Canute, was spared the
sickness but it struck down my beloved wife. Canute knows something of healing,
and he tried desperately to save his mother's life. He didn't have the right
plants to stop the sickness at the time.
My wife died, and Canute was greatly saddened. He decided then to [get the
plants] he needed to save the other sick people.
Cnute says, "The plants he needed only grow in Vanern Swamp. So, Canute and
his best friend packed up their things and traveled down there. They were able
to get what they needed and were on their way out of the swamp when they heard a
loud voice bellow 'Valthjof smash' and a giant club came down, smashing the
ground between them. The boys dodged out of the way but Canute dropped the bag
containing the plants. His friend ran, but Canute went to retrieve the bag. That
is when the club [smashed down again]."
Cnute says, "Canute couldn't get out of the way and the club
hit him. As his friend ran off, he heard the giant carrying the club bellowing,
'Valthjof, smash all of clan!' At least the boy made it back here to tell me
what happened to my poor son.
I want my son's remains. I want to lay him to rest with the honor he deserves.
The boy said he saw this Valthjof pick up [Canute's body] with the bag of plants
on it."
Cnute says, "Please, bring my son's body back to me. His friend said that
they were sneaking past the jotun camps, near the water, when they were attacked
by this Valthjof. If
you could bring my son's body back to me, and the plants with it, it would be
helpful to the Clan. The boy said the other jotuns were calling to Valthjof, so
you probably don't want to go face him alone. Go now, Runemaster, and bring my
son home to me."
Step #11 Kill Valthjof and return Canute's remains
Valthjof - conned purple to my 45th level RM.
located at 19K, 31K (also noted 19k, 35k) of the Vanern Swamp.
I had a full group, included a 50th level shaman, 48th zerk, 48th level healer,
47th level warrior, and some others - Valthjof was easy to find and didn't baf
or add. Once Valthjof was killed, I received:
Canute's remains, bag of plants, and cup engraved totem.
Step #12 was to return to Cnute
Cnute says, "Runemaster! You're back. Were you able to retrieve my son's
remains? Pleas, give them to me, for I wish to deliver him to Valhalla with
honor."
I gave him Canute's remains:
You are awarded 419,430,400 experience!
Canute says, "Thank you, Runemaster. I cannot begin to repay you for doing
that. Your name shall live on with great
honor in our Clan. I know you were going to try to obtain the bag of plants to
cure the sickness if you could. Please, give me the bag if you have it."
I gave him the bag of plants:
You are awarded 419,430,400 experience!
Canute says, "These are perfect! There are enough plants
here to cure the entire clan. You have saved the clan from
destruction. We cannot begin to repay you for this. What is
that I see, [a totem] of some kind?"
Cnute says, "That is very strange looking. You know, I was
about to send you back to Danica, for she sent word she has
a reward for you for helping me. When you go see her, five
her that totem. I think she will find it very interesting. Thank you again,
Runemaster, for helping save the Clan.
Unfortunately I fear that your protection will be needed
again. But go now and see Danica. May the House of Odin
watch over you.
Step #13 Return to Danica
Danica says, "Child, it is good to see you again. Cnute sent
word to me that you were retrieving his son's remains. I
commend you helping him. Wait! What is that I sense? Something magical...the
creature you killed...did you obtain
anything from it? Let me see it now!
I gave Danica the cup engraved totem.
Danica says, "This is truly a priceless find, . This is
one of the totems that Runil describes in his scrolls.
Apparently the Albion caster placed the curse into these
totems and gave them to the deserters who then gave them
to different creatures. These totems weren't activated until
the crest and sword were reunited. With this totem I can
begin to [unravel the curse]."
Danica says, "It will require some time for me to untangle
the spells woven around this totem. Until then, Anrid sent
over another reward for you. Take and go explore, and come back to me when you
have gained more experience in this world. I wish you well, ."
Talk to Danica in Mularn. She will tell you that
Arnfinn of Vasudheim is ill.
Go see Arnfinn (he is the smith in Vasudheim). He will tell you about a nasty
encounter with a wyvern named Serk, which left Arnfinn poisoned. He needs you to
get Serk's poison sac and give it to the healer in Vasudheim so that she can
make an antidote.
Serk can be found northwest of Nottmoor Faste, in the Jamtland Mountains. He is
a single pull, and cons red at level 48. Like most quest MOBs, he has a goodly
number of resists. Take a friend or three. Confusion is a great tactic, since
it's a single pull.
Upon killing Serk you will receive his poison sac and a totem.
Take the poison sac to the healer in Vasudheim. Take the antidote she gives you
to Arnfinn. He will thank you and tell you to see Danica in Mularn.
Tell Danica that "Arnfinn is well." She will thank you, and you will
receive 286,000,000 or so experience (around 0.25 bubbles at level 48). Danica
will ask for any other item you might have received. Give her the totem. She
will try to negate its magic, but fail.
Danica will then regale you with the tale of Jango and his followers. Jango
should have a map that Danica needs. Jango and his followers fled to the swamp
to escape the curse that had befallen the clan.
Head to the Vanern Swamp. Jango is a night only spawn, near 29k, 29k. First, you
will see 4 of Jango's Followers spawn. These are orange to level 48, and can be
pulled 2 at a time by a group.
Once you kill these 4 followers, Jango and 2 more followers will spawn. Jango is
purple to level 48, and has a healthy resist rate. Bring at least one tank and
healer, but he is killable by a group of 4 or less if you mez the adds.
When you kill Jango, you will receive Jango's Map. Take this map back to Danica
in Mularn. You will receive 386,000,000 or so experience, which is about 0.3
bubbles at level 48.
Danica will tell you that the map gives Kelic's location, but that you are not
powerful enough to deal with him. She tells you to go get a couple of levels and
come back at level 50 (not in so many words, of course).
You do not receive any item for this quest. The experience is the only reward.
(DW's Notes: If you didn't ding than go hit DF,
Trollheim Dungeon and/or Malmo. After you ding you may resume to the level 50
step)
Kelic is a big, nasty skeleton in Raumarik. He has
small, nasty friends.
From Ogran Futhark:
Kelic brings 4 friends, Servant of Kelic, which con yellow at 50. Those friends
can be pulled individually before you fight Kelic. Don't pull the orange ones
though, just the yellow ones. Kelic seems to have a pretty large agro range.
Nearsight worked well here.
When you get there you may see a lot of Servants of Kelic that are orange and no
Kelic. When you get close enough they will run together and summon Kelic.
Return to Danica in Mularn for your reward.
(DW's notes: Once you get your epic save it for RvR. Use your normal gear for
PvE.)

Non-SI Zones
Zone Name: Vanern Swamp
Level Range: 35-50
Pros: This zone is far away from the cities, and towns of Midgard. In fact the only way to get here is from Gna to West Skona than keep on going further into Skona Ravine to hit this zone. Barely anyone is here and if they are they are doing Epics and quests. The good spawns are the Broken Jotuns, Forest Spiders, and yes even the Hagbui's.
Con: This zone is far away from any city and town. If you die it's a long walk/horse ride to West Skona than a long walk to the swamp itself. The Broken Jotuns in fact will have large orms with them adding mayhem to any unprepared parties. Also epic mobs here can make it dangerous if you walk right into them. The drops here are varies from crappy to really good. Xping here is decent but not the best for the old world.
Zone Name: Raumarik
Level Range: 45-50
Pros: This zone is the best non-epic, non-DF, non-dungeon and yes even non-SI zone for xping. The non-hostile horses makes xping really easy. Also the Fenrirs are excellent xping. The trees and even some other type of mobs makes it great here. Some of the loot drops here are almost up to par or better than Darkness Falls. This zone is also closer to a Huginfel and the entrance has a horse so you can go to other places in a flash. This zone is also really not popular in some areas.
Con: Getting in is easy but don't expect help. Most people will be at the horses or doing epic runs. It's a low population so be on guard. Also the Horses exp can run dry and the Fenrirs do BAF making this either boring or dangerous. What makes it bad is the epic mobs in Raumarik. Run thru their spawn and it's trouble for you and your party unless your good at killing them.
Zone Name: Malmohus
Level Range: 35-50
Pros: This zone is far away from cites and towns. So that means not alot of people. The areas of interest is the Dragons Lair, the Lake and the H stones. The other areas are ok but not worth it. What makes it great is only time Malmohus is used is during Power leveling events and Dragon raids. Dragon raids if your in Malmohus you can get into if your lucky. This is an epic zone so you know what drops are here that's good.
Con: This zone is far from town so it's a long trip to town to drop off loot. This means also a long ways from a healer. The navigation of this zone is pure hell. The mobs in this zone will alot if you don't time the patrols right. What makes this worse is that mobs in Malmohus as you get deeper starts off red to your going to die Purple. If you make it to the H stones that's good but getting to the lair itself is like pulling teeth. Once you make it inside the Lair one wrong pull or pulling during the Dragon spells death and a long trip to your bind point. The power leveling events can be bad if there's greedy people in the zone hogging xp and loot drops. I forgot to tell you the Dragon can kill many people if they are not prepared.
Zone Name: Spindelhalla
Level Range: 30-45
Pros: This zone is close to Gna Faste and Galplen. This means you can make many loot drops and easily get to a healer. This zone isn't bad if your starting out on the level 40's or even the level 35 to 40. The deepest lair in Spindelhalla can be good even up to level 45-47. The drops here aren't that bad either. In fact some level 49th armor and items drops here. When Darkness Falls is open to Midgard this zone clears out fast of players.
Con: When Midgard looses Darkness Falls than this zone fills up. Also when it fills up it tends to be a zerg for XP. It can get from annoyance to downright nasty. The xp here can be bad if your trying to get to 50 from level 47-50 even when Midgard gets DF.
Zone Name: Midgard Frontier, Albion Frontier, and Hibernia Frontier
Level Range: 30-50 depending on the zones you hit.
Pros: Not many people or invaders do come to certain spots. If you find an unpopular spot than you can get some great xp and coinage. Heck you can even get some nifty bounty items in the Midgard Frontier. Also you can get camp bonuses if Midgard has the forts in those areas even in Albion and Hibernia too if they got it.
Con: The frontiers are RvR zones. This means you can be killed instead of getting xp. When a zerg of players pass though your camp the only option is a /release. When Midgard loosing forts in Midgard or even in the other realms the camp experience are gone. If your soloing here it's even worse because of zergs or certain classes.
Zone Name: Dodens Gruva
Level Range: 40-50
Pros: This is a very good and low population zone. This is in Jam. Mountains and you can access it easily. Once inside you can get to certain areas. The further you go with a good party the better the xp is. Also the better the loot drops are.
Con: This zone connects to the Albion and Hibernia special frontier dungeons. This means it's an RvR zone. You can get killed while xping by invaders. What makes it worse is the deeper you go. If your unprepared expect alot of death and headaches. The drops here are decent but not like Darkness Falls OR SI dungeons. If you hate traveling and getting gank while getting xp avoid this place. The entrance to this dungeon can be camped and be griefed by players.
Zone Name: Darkness Falls
Level Range: 20-50
Pros: The entrance to Darkness Falls has an anti-camp radius and very high steps. So that means no invaders will be griefing you. The drops here are coins and seals. Sometimes loot drops depending on the name mobs. The further you go into this big dungeon to get to Legion the better the xp is. The best area in the game are the Jedis and they spawn at a good rate and give out great xp. Also there are some areas soloable and yes even farmable. After you collect seals you can buy items for use or salvage. This zone is popular so you can get a group here.
Con: This zone is an RvR zone. To make matters worse it's control by how many outposts your realm owns. The more your realm owns the longer you have Darkness Falls. If your realm looses Darkness Falls access that means your xping will be cut short due to the other realm who just got it itchy to clear out your realm to get to the xping and seals spots. Certain areas in DF can be difficult too and can lead to many deaths if not careful. If your soloing you can be killed at any time by invaders. If your realm do has Darkness Falls than it might be difficult to get a group. Everyone here wants to get a group here in Darkness Falls when it's open.
Shrouded Isles Zones
Zone Name: Delling Crater
Level Range: 30-50
Pros: Nobody really hits this zone alot except on the Secrets quest and TG Dungeon runs. So you can get good xp at the Griffon Village, Near TG area or inside the crater itself. You can even get good xp at Dellingstad but that will ruin your chances of buying and selling loot. If you do have good Dellingstad faction than you can drop off loot at the merchants in Dellingstad. This zone is kinda far from town so no spamming or anything else in that matter.
Con: This zone is far from a healer and bind point. Yes even no horse routes in Dellingstad. What makes it worse is you need Dellingstad faction to get access to Dellingstad. The xp is really only good inside the Crater for awhile than it dies down. The Griffon village is the best but you need that faction to get pass them to get to the Giants guarding TG. This is an SI zone and not many people will be here so don't expect to find a group right off the bat.
Zone Name: Faraheim
Level Range: 40-50
Pros: This zone has a town in it. Hagall is a good spot to bind so you can hop back into the action if you die. This zone hot spots are the tree houses, the tough monsters near the zone walls, and the ghosts near Iarnwood zone. This zone makes a nice loot trip run and there's even a few bounty hunting quest if you have the right faction with a tribe. You can also hunt that tribe for xp.
Con: If your on a bad Midgard server and kill stealing is common as the money drops in the frontier than you will not like this zone. It is near a town so except some people here. Other than that the xp wears out in time in most of the zones except the tough monsters. Those monsters keeps xp a little longer but in an non-experience group they can rip up that group under a few mins. This is an SI zone also so don't expect to get grouped right away.
Zone Name: Gripklosa Mountains
Level Range: 25-50
Pros: This zone has a town in it but to get to the spawn points you gotta walk a good distance from it. The hot points in the zones are rarely populated so you'll get the camp experience. The best spots in the zone are the ISS fort spawn points and Mammoth Valley including the fast spawning Morvalt camp. If you die there's a town here to get your con back. The entrance to Trollheim is here so that's another positive.
Con: The only really good places are the ISS fort and Mammoth Valley Morvalt camp. The ISS fort can spawn pretty fast and one slip up can cost your party a trip back to Bjarken. The Morvalt camp is even worse. It spawns at an insane rate. So that means you gotta keep on your toes or else that spawn will send you back to Bjarken. The xp bonus here isn't like DF. This is an SI zone is expect not to get a group really fast here.
Zone Name: Iarnwood Forest
Level Range: 40-50
Pros: This zone has no town at all. It has a small dwarf encampment for an kill task. You just need faction with em by hunting here. This area has a few level 60 Mobs spots. This zone has a dungeon here and some high level spawns are off to the side. So that's a good way to get some experience while looking for the dungeon or something to do.
Con: This is one of the most avoided regular zones in SI. The xp here is only good at the Lair entrance and some areas. Even those areas are far from the entrance and a grave run makes it tough. The mobs near the dungeon can be unforgiving. In fact this is the least popular Midgard zone in SI.
Zone Name: Iarnvidiur's Lair
Level Range: 45-50
Pros: Rarely anyone goes into this zone. This zone has some excellent and even DF Jedi type experience. The tough dogs and Dvalin (aka Lawn Gnomes) can level a group pretty well. This area even has decent drops for salvaging or saving. If your in a good power leveling group you can do the areas near the dungeon boss for some nifty xp.
Con: If you want to put this zone in the top 10 ghost town zones than this area will tie with Cursed Tomb for Midgard. So you need to form your own party to get here and getting here can be a pain. Soloing is not recommended if you don't have purge or cure disease. The Mushrooms and any other mobs here can give you the Black Death Anti- Regen disease. This means you can't regen health. This zone xp can wear out in awhile but that means hoping to another dangerous spawning area.
Zone Name: Trollheim
Level Range: 45-50
Pros: This zone is in Gripklosa mountains so getting here is somewhat easy. Once inside you can hit the good spots in the towers, smithing areas, path to the bosses area or the weaponry area. This zone is great for an experience party and the drops here are excellent. There's even a quest linked here and his camp bonuses are almost good as the DF Jedis. The weaponry area is nice too but beyond it gets even more dangerous and rewarding.
Con: This zone gets tougher as you go further. This zone isn't populated and only soloing can happen at the entrance. The mobs here does styles even on you so it will not be easy for you. If you even have a good party some areas can be insane like the weaponry area.
Zone Name: Tuscaren Glacier
Level Range: 50
Pros: This is the epic zone of Midgard SI. The drops here are almost up to par and yes even better than some epic armor pieces. The xping here is set for large xping parties and the mobs are red at the entrance and gets to your going to die purple. This means the bonuses will take a long time to die down. The further you go with some groups can be dangerous but the xp rewards can be worth it. The Alchemy procs and Weapon dyes do drop here. The drops here even great against player made Spellcrafted Armor.
Con: This zone is an SI zone so you need a group ahead of time before just zoning in. This is an epic zone and not recommended for soloing or a normal party due to the fact of the mobs starting off red and beyond. The weapon dyes are only for the weapon dropped in this zone so that's a disappointment. One wrong turn or pull in this zone can spell death or heavy downtime.
This area here is to give you tips and hints on getting to level 50 faster.
* Plan on which zones your hitting for experience points. If you just go into a zone than you will die or not get to the experience area your aiming for.
* If you need help on quests make sure you get some other people involved in your quest. Another tip is that make sure your help has the same level so they can to benefit from the xp rewards.
* If your doing epics save them for Level 49.8. The level 43-48 steps can get you to level 50 within a few hours.
* When in doubt having a bad day play another toon. If that doesn't work turn off game and relax.
* Know your strengths and weakness.
* If you die at a hard spot would you go back to it and risk loosing one grave and gaining another?
* Once you hit level 50 and you had help, help those who leveled you to 50. This is a nice way to thank those who helped you.
